Moray MP praises young film-maker”
A new Moray documentary film has received its premier to critical acclaim. “Moray Matters” is a 20 minute long behind the scenes look at the work of local MP Angus Robertson. It was filmed on location at Westminster and in Moray by Emma Brumpton from Garmouth.
The Aberdeen film student presented the film and fielded questions at the AGM of Moray SNP in Lossiemouth which was also attended by SNP leader Alex Salmond MP.
“Moray Matters” features interviews with Angus Robertson, his staff at Westminster and the Moray Parliamentary Office in Elgin and also BBC Westminster correspondent David Porter. It also tracks recent developments about Defence cuts at RAF Kinloss and RAF Lossiemouth.
Arrangements are currently being made to make the film publicly available.
Moray MP Angus Robertson said:
“This film is an excellent insight into my role as local MP and also explains the vital work put in by my parliamentary staff in the constituency and Westminster.
“It is difficult sometimes to adequately explain the many different elements of the job, but this documentary helps show the diverse work that goes on behind the scenes.
“Film director Emma Brumpton and her camera team filmed with me at the House of Commons and followed me around Moray, even when I was on a caravan surgery tour.
“The final product is exceptionally professional documentary and was warmly received by the premier audience.
SNP leader Alex Salmond MP said after watching the premier showing:
“It is great to see such a fantastic documentary which shows the depth of creative talent we have in the north of Scotland.
“Emma has really captured a lot of the hard work that Angus Robertson puts in to represent Moray, whether it was when he was on a surgery tour or standing up for local jobs.
“I hope that Emma goes on to a successful career in filmmaking, because she is very, very talented.
Speaking about the making of “Moray Matters” Emma Brumpton said:
“It was a really interesting experience to film the work Angus Robertson does for Moray.
“Although I am from the local area I am not involved in politics and as a young person it is sometimes difficult to see how the democratic system works.
“That is why I wanted to make this film to explore what our local MP does and show how diverse this job is. We had tremendous behind the scenes access to film this ‘fly on the wall’ documentary.
“The one question that was hard to get an answer to was the question of what Angus Robertson wants to be doing in the future. Maybe I will have to make a sequel!
